P2 Heatsink To Celeron
Conversion

Time to mount that Celeron onto the Cooler. Apply some
heatsink compound onto the Celeron. Then screw it to the VEK 12 evenly and not too tight.
The Celeron PCB is very easy to warp. Don't forget to use the non-conductive washers. You
don't want to be shorting out your Celeron. :-)

This is what it looks like when it's finished. Reattach
the fans and you're ready to put the unit into you motherboard. As for mounting the unit
down, you can't use the Celeron clips anymore because the VEK 12 is too big. I use the old
Zip Tie to the slot 1 rail trick. Put a Zip Tie though the top hole of the Celeron and tie
it around the Slot 1 rail. That will hold it nice and tight. Unfortunately, there is no
matching hole on the other side of the Celeron.
The cost of this conversion was about $10 worth of
tools. For those that don't want to do all this work but like the idea of using a
Global Win VEK 12 on your Celeron then you might be in luck.
AMK Services
is thinking about selling modify VEK 12's so they will work with Slot 1 Celerons.
Basically you would be buying what I just built. No pricing is available yet but it should
only be a few more dollars over a normal VEK 12.
