Building a LAN Party System Part 1

P4230003.jpg (13594 bytes)

The case used for LAN 825 is the recently reviewed Enlight EN7237. This 17" case was perfect for a LAN box. The only mod I made to it was adding a 3" Sunon fan to the back to help get rid of the heat given off by the CPU. I may get AMK Services to add a carrying handle to it. I filled the case up with a hard drive, floppy drive, Zip drive, CD ROM and Plextor 8X CD Writer and I still have two drive bays left. Because the case can be screwless, I can get at the component without tools. Very important for a LAN party box.

The cooler used for LAN 825 was the Global Win VOS32. As you can see in the above photo, this thing is just HUGE! The cooler is so big, it just clears the first DIMM slot on the VT6X4 by 1mm! The Creative GeForce DDR is cooled by a Mellenger VCCK. You can see the RAM Sinks on the video card in the above photo.

Airflow is very important in an overclocked system. Putting in a ton of fans is no use if the flow of air is blocked off. All cables used for LAN 825 were fold and tape flat against the wall or floor of the Enlight case. You can see how I bend and routed the SCSI cable for my Zip drive in the above photo.

Next page: It sure is cold in here
