| How To Build Your Own Peltier Cooler Part 1
Power supply
300 Watts or more, preferably AT, but could be ATX. The power supply is going to be wired
so that it starts up without a motherboard. I will show you how to do that in part 2. If
you're using an ATX, you will need an ATX power extension cable (any length). Both of
these should be easy to find.
Crimps, plastic housings, and a Crimper.
The ones I am referring to resemble the 4 pin connectors on your fans. Peltiers do not
come with a 4 pin connector so you are going to have to make them yourself. It is not hard
at all to do once you have the parts. Here's where you can get the Crimps and housings.
Heilind Electronics
Crimps Part #: Molex 02-08-1235
Housings Part#: Molex 15-24-4047
You need 4 Crimps per Housing and a crimp tool. I don't suggest using the Molex one
because they want a to money for it (over $50). I found an automotive one for $10.00 I got
mine from an automotive shop. It is by Matco Tools. Please note: There might be a minimum
purchase. It's been so long since I bought from this place that I don't remember.

An alternative which may be easier is to buy a
5.25" Y connector and splice it with the peltier wires. Be sure to use the 12V wires
(Yellow = +12V, Black = Ground)
Sand Paper, metal tap, and hammer
You may or may not need the tap and hammer again depending on which Alpha Heatsink you
have. The sand paper is for sanding down the plates. When you get your plates, you might
notice grime and light scratches on them (depending on where you get em). If you do see
many scratches and grime, get 800 and 1600 wetsand sand paper from an automotive or
hardware store if you don't have any.
End of part one.
