Making a Rack Mounted PC Case

Posted: 10/4/99

I have been reading through all the great case ideas that have been coming out lately, and I thought what I put together one that might be of interest to you.

My two main hobbies are computers and music. Because I have a lot of music equipment, I work with rack-mount items all the time. Since I started doing much of my music recording and editing on computers, I decided to get myself a rack-mount case to serve as my dedicated music PC. While putting the machine together I thought that this setup might make for a solid LAN Party PC, so I decided to kill 2 birds with one stone.

I had the computer components already in another a mid sized ATX case. All I needed was the rack-mount case itself.

List of components:

Abit BP6 Motherboard

Dual Celeron 400 Chips (sometimes overclocked to 500)

128 Meg PC100 DIMM

Maxtor Diamond Max Plus Hard Drive

HP 8100 CD-R/RW

STB Velocity 4400 Video Card

Creative Labs SoundBlaster Live

D-Link Combo PCI Network Card
