How To Start a Tech Site

Joining a network

Joining a network has many advantages. For one, a network may offer the chance to make more money than by going with a banner company. However, the biggest reason for joining a network is they can send you lots of traffic. To this day no other site has been able to send me more traffic than Maximum PC. It is also easier to get hardware from manufactuers when you're part of a well known network.

Another reason for joining is network is for hosting. Some network will host your site and give you unlimited space and bandwidth totally free. And unlike a paid web host provider like CommuniTech,  they truly mean unlimited. How can a network afford to do that? Because their income depends on your traffic. The more traffic you do the more money you both make. Networks make money by having sites within the network show banner advertising. The more banners they show, the more everyone makes so they want you to run as much traffic as possible.

There are many networks for you to check out. Here are a few to get you started:

You should select your network carefully. They all have different requirements and revenue sharing plan. Some will host your site, some require you to find your own host. If you don't have  the means to afford a dedicated server, then joining a network is a great way to get true unlimited bandwidth.

The best thing to do is determine what your goals are. Do you just want free hosting or do you want a network to help you get really big? The best way to check out a network is to ask sites who are already part of a network how they like it. You will be surprised at some of the replies you will get.

Just because a network will host you and give you unlimited bandwidth doesn't mean you can do that. Network pay money for bandwidth and servers just like everyone else. If you're doing a major amount of traffic on the network server but the network is not selling enough advertising to keep up, they may throttle your account or ask you to slow down. Also, network that provide hosting will put your site with other sites on their server. If one site in the network is doing lots of traffic, that can degrade the performance of your site.
