Making a Water Cool Computer

Putting it together

So I had all my parts and all I needed was a box to put them in. So I went down to my garage and looked around for a suitable container. What I found was one of those parts organizers from Acro Mills... the kind with the little clear plastic drawers that pull out. Well, I pulled out all the drawers by turning it upside down over the trash can and then removed the guides for the drawers. It seemed to be the perfect size to fit my radiator, water container and pump. All I needed to do was cut an opening for the radiator and punch a couple holes for the tubes and wiring. After doing that I gave it several coats of black spray paint. I live in East Los Angeles... we're good with spray paint here.

The above picture is the back view of the cooler box.

After I finished off cutting, drilling and painting the box, I put the radiator in using a 1/8 inch piece of plexiglass, drilled and cut for two 120 MM fans, placed over the radiator and bolted through to the other side.

The next thing to do was to drill and tap holes in the reservoir/plastic Mason jar. I used one 1/4 NPT nylon barbed fitting for 1/2" ID tubing on the intake and one 1/4 NPT nylon barbed elbow fitting for 3/8" ID tubing for the return line at the top.

The last thing I put in my box was the rotary indicator.
