This Toyota Extracab has won it all. Seven
times IASCA Western Regional Champion, 7 times Regional points
champion, 101 career first place, 44 career best of show awards
and the 1997 IASCA World Champion.
Have you ever wonder what goes into the
making of such a vehicle? Well, I got a behind the scenes look at
one of the winningest car on the IASCA circuit. This Toyota
Extracab is own and created by Tim of Visions Audio Video. The
Toyota is a constant work in process. By the time this articles is
posted, it will probably not look like it does now.

Let's start at the front. In order
to create the best possible sound stage, Tim had to rebuild the
entire dash. There are two 4" Sony monitors in front of each
occupant trimmed in red Plexiglas. Beside each monitor, is the
display for the Alpine 1203 CD Changer controller, also trimmed in
red Plexiglas. The gauge cluster has been upgraded to one from a 4
Runner. It is centered in the dash for symmetrical reasons. The
dash is wrapped in vinyl and HOULIO !

To keep with the install theme,
the wheel is black with red accents. Tim can control all the major
functions of the stereo from the custom switches installed into
the hub of the steering wheel. Behind the wheel is a view of the
4" monitor, and the display for the controller. The brake and
gas pedal were replaced so that they match the steering wheel.

The passenger is not left out of
the sound loop in this car. The
passenger side controls are mounted in the passenger door
armrest. Screened with a Toyota logo. The passenger can control
everything that the driver can control.

The area that would
typically be the glove box now highlights the MB Quart passive
crossovers for the truck. They are mounted on matching red
Plexiglas. This area is accented with neon. Mounted between the
passives are four fuse holders. The fuses are for each of the TV's
and for the neon over the passives and over the subs.

To the left of the
steering wheel is a switch panel, also trimmed in red Plexiglas.
The switches control things like the neon, TV power, the motorized
E Brake and so on. Yes, the E Brake is motorized.
