The Making Of A Sound Off Show Car

As you know, Toyota
truck do not normally feature foot deep storage trays. So, Tim cut
out the bed and made a custom steel amp pan 33x30x12, welded, seam
sealed, and undercoated. 2" PVC piping runs from both sides
of the bed to the amp rack to provide a protective waterproof way
of running wires from different parts the vehicle to the amp rack.
The left of the picture shows some behind the scenes wiring. The
right side will be filled with another pan to house the chrome car
jack and tire iron.

Here is a better view
of the waterproof PVC piping running from the bed to the amp rack
on the passenger side. You can also see the installed tire jack
pan on the right.

Heavy Duty Grommet
and Armour cable protect the speaker cables between the cab and
the bed.

The drivers side of
bed has a display showcasing Esoteric Audio's "Electric
Attitude" speaker and RCA cables. There are more easy to
access fuses here, along with switches to control the rack's neon
lighting, along with other accent lighting. They also control the
fans, amp power, SPL and SQ mode. The keypad in the center is part
of a very old Alpine Security system. Tim is using the starter
kill output off of it to interrupt the remote turn on of the
system. You hit ARM, it shuts down the stereo until you enter a 4
digit code, then the stereo works again. These items are also
trimmed in red Plexiglas and white neon

The passenger side of
the bed showcases Esoteric Audio's "Electric Attitude"
Wiring and blocks. They are trimmed in red Plexiglas and white
neon.
Tim would not tell me
how much the system in his truck cost but a good guess would place
it at more than the cost of the truck itself. The truck with sound
system is for sale. Give Tim a shout at hzemall@home.com
if you're interested.
