Well, well, well...I've finally got them. I've had a Logitech z560 system for a while now, and it was just BEGGING to be compared to Altec Lansing's beefy 641 system. Well, in an ironic turn of events (due to the z560's incredible showing), it's the 641 that's in the hot spot now. Can Altec Lansing beat speaker-rookie-of-the-year Logitech into submission, or is
it doomed to something...um...really doomed like. Whatever. LET'S ROCK!

Inspection
Ouch. *Getting kinks out of back* That is one heavy mofo! This is even heavier than the Logitech z560 set (and that was no feather-weight, either)! This is a good sign (well,
not for my back...), as most light systems I test end up sounding like crap.
Taking this set out of its box didn't evoke any "Oooo's" or "Ahhh's" (albeit a lot of grunting), but it was no ugly ducking either. The silver/grey/black motive will fit in with
almost any setup, whilst adding a little class. Strut your stuff, baby:
Manual/Wall mounting/RCA adapter
Satellites (note adjustable stand underneath)
Subwoofer (note auxiliary jack on top of sub)
Comparison shots (no, that isn’t my mod job on the case)
While the phase plug in the z560s (in comparison shots) give the illusion of a bigger
driver, they are still 3" (I measured them), so we're on even ground here. If you're
wondering who that stray-white-dog-of-a-speaker is, that's Altec Lansing's ACS48: one of the
best 2.1 systems in it's day (and it still rocks to this day). I threw it in just to give a
size comparison. Anyway, I wish Altec would label the wattage on their speakers, as it
gives me an idea of how MUCH they are exaggerating their numbers by (for example: the z560's
"53W" satellites are only 15W). In fact, I bet that's why they don't...heaven forbid we
actually discover the truth. But I digress.
