Photo printers sure have come along way since Epson introduced their first photo printer. The Epson 925 has many new features that older generation printers lack; one of them being borderless printing and printing from roll paper. With the new borderless printing feature, you'll be able to print right to the very edge of the paper with no more white borders around your photos. The border has always been one of my biggest gripe with photo printers. When there is a border around a photo it just doesn't look like a real photo because real photos from the photo lab bleed right to the edge. Now you can buy 4x6 or 5x7 photo paper and print your image on the entire surface without borders. The end result looks so real no one will believe they came from an ink jet printer!

Another unique feature of the 925 is the ability to print on roll paper. The Stylus Photo 925 even comes with a built in cutter for instant 4x6 photos when using a 4 inch roll, or 5x7 when using a 5 inch roll. The 925 accepts paper rolls up to 8.5 inches wide. Roll photo paper are less expensive than flat sheet photo paper so this is a nice cost saving feature.

The Epson Stylus Photo 925 doesn't require a computer to operate. It can print photos direct from your digital camera's media card. There are inputs for Compact Flash, Smart Media and Sony Memory Stick. You can also plug your digital camera directly to the printer using a USB cable. The Stylus 925 can be had with an optional preview monitor so you can preview the photos stored on your media card. This is a great feature for "in the field" work where you need to print out photos but don't want to pack your computer or laptop with you.

The 925 photo printer can print on a wide range of printing media but for best results you should use Epson premium glossy photo paper. The printer comes with some sample 8.5 x 11 sheets and a sample roll of the paper to get you started. While the 925 is a photo printer, you don't have to use it as such. The printer works just as well printing non photo and it's very fast black and white printer as well.
