Addtronics 7896A Case Review

Special Features

Butterfly Doors

Well, the first thing I noticed was the butterfly doors. Say what? The doors swing open and out just like your car doors. No more lifting 25 pound one-piece panels (like my Macase case)! Not only that, but you can easily take them off and put them back on if you want, but why would you? You could easily work on the case without even removing any panels. You don't have to slide the panels out to open the case, just swing open. The sliding type panels of other cases are a pain when the back of the case is against a wall.

Sanded Down Edges
The second thing I noticed is that there isn't any razor sharp edges to cut yourself. I cut my self many times when working on friend's and family's computers. Yes, even on Inwin and Enlight cases! The third thing I noticed was the case wasn't as long as other full tower cases I seen. It was just as high though if not higher. But I actually like a shorter case because it fits on my desk better. Unfortunately, I don't have any room to put the case on the floor. Another nice feature is that the front 5 1/4 bay covers are screwed on. No more breaking them off! A real pain!

Side Motherboard Tray
What makes this case really special is how the motherboard slides out. Most cases I seen has the motherboard slide out the back. Now, I don't like that idea because most of us has the back of the case close to a wall. There simply isn't enough room to pull a long tray out. With the Addtronics, the case slides out from the right side. Not the back! Just slide it right out. Another excellent feature is the case doesn't have those annoying hex-shaped brass standoffs that usually get stripped. Instead, it has square cutouts. What you do is put the motherboard down onto the tray, and from the back of the board you insert these metal cube standoffs which snap in. The standoff's have holes in them. You just screw them down like you normally would. This makes installation much easier, and is a feature I haven't seen on any case. I installed my motherboard in no time flat!

No-wire Front Bezel
The front bezel couldn't be any better! To remove it, you just pull from the bottom and it comes off easily. No annoying wires on it which get in the way, and no switches on it that can be broken. It even has a lock at the bottom so that no one else can mess with it. The power button is at the top and is a nice sized button which is easy to push. The bezel even has a large removable filter for the 3 large intake fans. A must for keeping the dust out.

Replaceable 5 1/4" metal covers
The 5 1/4 metal covers are screwed on. You can easily take them off or put them back on! No more breaking off large metal tabs and run the risk of injuring yourself from sharp edges.

Drive brackets
Every drive has a bracket which screws on. Then you just the drive in. Takes the guess work out of lining up drives! Also makes it easier to pull a drive out. Not only that, the drives are screwed on the front. This holds the drive in place when transporting the case. To remove a drive, just unscrew the 2 screws on the front and pull out. Easy in, Easy out! No more unscrewing drives from the side.

Excellent Cooling Setup
This case has a place for 10 fans! One of those is a special fan blowing directly on the CPU. Nothing beats the cooling options this case has. Your options are endless. You can have the top fans blowing in or out. If you have hot scsi drives installed up there, what you can do is install hd coolers that exhaust out, and have the 80mm fans blow in. What this will do is blow the hot air off the SCSI drives and the HD coolers will exhaust them out of the case instead of blowing them into the case and adding more heat. A perfect setup! I will be definitely be testing this case in the future when I have all the fans and coolers.

Powerful Power Supply
The Power supply is 300W and says Addtronics right on it. I believe it really is an Antec. It is a quiet power supply due to the fact it has a temperature controlled fan. Unlike other power supplies, this one features 8 AMPS! Most other one's I've seen feature 6 Amps. This power supply can easily power the setup which I am planning to have.
