292-3333 AMK Case Review
I tested the 292-3333 by installing my personal system inside. The components consist of the following:
Our first impression after the system was put together was "Damn! That's a good looking case!" The black bezel around the drives are really made out of smoke Plexiglas. If you were to put some neon lights in the case the Plexiglas would light up like a Christmas tree, making your drives look like it's suspended in mid air!
Performance from the case was great. The case temp was never more than 5C above the room temp even after an hour of Unreal Tournament. Because the 292-3333 uses smaller fans than the Cyclone 5000, it is also more quiet. This doesn't mean you can't hear it however. In The Tech Zone, the case was very quiet because our office is a noisy place but at home, I hear the constant hum of four high power fans spinning away. A controller to turn the fans off and on is an option you can order from AMK Services.
Like all AMK cases, the 292 is fully customizable. Want 4.75" in the side panel instead of the 3" models? AMK will build that for you. Don't want any fans on the side? No problem. You can even get a stainless steel carrying handle installed if you want to use the 292-3333 as a LAN case.
The 292-3333 is the ultimate tweakers case and the most innovative case I've seen in a long time. For someone like myself, this case is a God send. I can get into it without a screw driver. I can change hard drives, video cards, sounds cards, etc. without any tools at all. The 292-3333 is a great case to use if you do a lot of swapping of components. And we all know how much tweakers love swapping. :)
Priced at just $99.95, the 292-3333 is an amazing value. It offers great performance at a great price. The only thing I would like to see is more drive bays. However, most users should have no problem with three 5.25" and three 3.5" bays. If you're a tweaker looking for great case, you found it in the 292-3333 from AMK Services.
