Computer Divine offers a bunch of different color options
for its cases, the one tested came in a speckled green color, which if you like
green, looks pretty good. The nature of the paint used left the case with a bit
of a textured finish as opposed to the smooth walls of most cases. Being that I
don't handle or caress my case all that much, what the external surfaces feel
like doesn't really matter. Opening up the case reveals just how huge this beast
really is. As anyone that works on computers a lot will tell you, having a nice
open case with plenty of room is simply a joy to play with. I thought my 19"
cases had a lot of room. The Green Monster blows it out of the water.
Another nice feature of the case were the number of
rounded edges found internally. As many of you I'm sure have scars to prove,
bare metal edges be a pain to deal with, but the Green Monster only got a few of
these and I didn't find them to be much of a problem at all.
The Green Monster is all about cooling, so the fans get a
nice section all to themselves. In total there are 11 fans distributed in the
interior of the case, and there's even room for more should your cooling fetish
not be satisfied. For starters you have the power supply fan, standard for all
cases really, but after that this case really differentiates itself.
Mounted up front in the lowest 5 1/4 external bay we see a
hard drive cooling system with two tiny fans designed to keep your high RPM
drive from overheating. In addition to that there are eight 80mm fans cooling
just about every part of the case. As if that weren't enough, there are mounting
and ventilation holes for an additional two fans at the top rear of the case
should you want to make this case even louder. All but two of these 80mm fans
are mounted on the walls of the case and blow air through nicely drilled holes
in the case walls.
All the fans are wired in with the appropriate power
connectors ensuring that you won't have to sacrifice any of your devices just to
get enough free connectors for all the fans to work. Depending on how many
devices you want to pack into this case and how many fans you choose to connect
you may want to upgrade the power supply to something in the 400W category.
While this won't be necessary for the vast majority of users out there, if you
need a case this big chances are you're going to pack it with all manner of
power sucking devices.
