Installation of the ADS-2000 is just a matter of connecting the
correct plugs. The unit is too big to fit into a 5.25" drive bay, which is too
bad as it would look really cool below my S4 7100 controller. What I end up
doing was placing the unit on top of my computer. Not the most creative place
but it works. The unit does have four rubber feet on the bottom to prevent it
from sliding.

Hooking up the ADS-2000 is pretty straight forward. All the
input/output connectors are clearly labeled. You start by plugging in the power
supply, then chose what type of input you want to use. There are inputs for
standard RCA and digital S/PDIF. To use the ADS-2000 with your computer, your
sound card must have either a stereo line out or a digital S/PDIF output. My
sound card, the
Aureal SQ2500, just happens to have a S/PDIF output. The ADS-2000 also comes
with a coaxial cable (the yellow one) so you can hook up the S/PDIF input.
Because this is a true 5.1 decoder, there are outputs for front
speakers (left and right), surround speakers (left and right), center channel
speaker and sub woofer. Each channel can be controlled individually. Outputs to
speakers are done by either standard 1/4" jacks or a G9 DIN plug. I use the 1/4"
jacks.
The final setup goes something like this; Aureal SQ2500 sends
signal by coaxial cable to the digital input of the ADS-2000. The ADS-2000 then
process the sounds and sends it to the speakers.
