Remember when video cards didn't require cooling? The
video cards back then didn't even have a heatsink on them. Those days are long
gone. Not only do the top end video cards today require a heatsink, most come
with a heatsink fan.
With video cards running faster and hotter than ever
before, keeping them cool becomes more important, especially if you plan on
overclocking your video card. Most overclockers tend to put a larger heatsink
and fan on their video card in the pursuit of more speed. The disadvantage of
this type of setup is the loss of one or two PCI slots and the end of your video
card warranty. For some, this was worth the performance increase. Others needed
a more eloquent solution. This is where card coolers come in.
One of the first card coolers to hit the market was
created by...The Card Cooler. The Card Cooler was and still is a very kick ass
product, offering great performance for the money. Now Global Win has stepped
into the card cooling arena with two card coolers of their own. When they
showed up at The Tech Zone, the first thing we thought was shootout!
The Tech Zone LAN party members love The Card Cooler.
Nearly every player has one and we all wanted to know how the new Global Win
units compared. A call to
The Card Cooler had us a new improved card cooler with ball bearing fans to
fight the Global Win models. Thanks guys! We like to also thank
AMK Services for suppling us with the new Global Win card coolers. Let the
battle begin.
