Introduction:
Cooling madness at the Tech Zone continues! I admit it! I've been negligent...
I've gone through cooling week and didn't do a single review on any socket CPU
heatsinks. Well, I hope I can redeem myself with this review. I didn't forget,
though... I just didn't have an FCPGA CPU to properly review the socket type CPU
heatsinks that the CoolerGuys sent me.
Luckily, my good buddy Ned from Proton
Computers graciously donated a sweet little Celeron 2 566, an Abit Slotket
III, and a Global Win FKP32 to use in the review! What's even sweeter is that
the CPU he sent me cranked right up at 850! That gives me a chance to really
check out what these heatsinks are really worth... If you're in the market for
something to replace that nasty retail Intel heatsink and fan and don't want to
spend $50, then we've got something for you! So, without further delay let's
lay down the goods on these two righteous coolers!
Contenders:
In my never ending pursuit to confuse you, the reader I continually strive to
find the best possible way to present information in an illogical, unstructured
manner that's intended to leave you scratching your head wondering if I just
said anything that can be considered coherent and comprehensible in any stretch
of the imagination. Why should this be any different? Just kidding! Let me
explain the format for this review. I'll individually list details and features
of each heatsink, specifications (from manufacturer websites), and
installation. Then I'll move on to a head-to-head performance comparison and
conclusion based on the comparison. Here we go!
