The Global Win I-Storm looks more like a space ship than a hard drive cooler. This little device fits into any 5.25 inches drive bay and cools your hard drive using a special turbine instead of the common fan. This turbine is whisper quiet and moves a lot more air than a fan of comparable size.

As you all know, hard drive coolers don't really make your hard drive go any faster. What they do is reduce the operating temperature of the drive. A cool running drive is always a good thing to have. It will last longer and be more reliable than one that overheats. The questions are what kind of hard drive do you have, and do you need such a product. If you're using a super fast Ultra SCSI hard drive, then the answer is a resounding yes. If you're just using a run of the mill 5,400 RPM IDE drive, then you can skip the hard drive cooler for now. The 7,200 RPM is kinda middle ground. You won't need a drive cooler for those drives if you have proper case cooling. If you have no case cooling, then a drive cooler is worth considering.

The Global Win I-Storm is made up of a space ship shaped housing, a turbine fan and 2 hard drive rails to mount your hard drive. The fan uses pass though power connectors so you don't have to worry about finding extra power connectors for them. The unit looks kinda funky when installed. It sticks out 2 inches from your drive bay. Air is pulled from under the unit and blown onto the hard drive. There is a light that comes on to show that the fan is spinning. The grill on the underside has a filter that also serves to protect your hands/fingers. That turbine blade is pretty sharp and I'm sure it will cut your fingers if you let it.
