First I would
like to apologize to you guys and Global Win because this review is about a week
late but we'll get into why later. The WBK38 was shipped to me in the same box
used for the FOP38. Before I install anything in my system I like to give it a
once over just for first impressions. The WBK38 is a beautiful heat sink in
basic silver bare metal. I hate the colored heat sinks that so many companies
are putting out now. I'm a simple person. I don't want to pay extra for a
black or neon blue heat sink when that money could go to making the heat sink
better. The Delta fan on the WBK38 has a 3 prong plug for connection to the
motherboard but Global Win is good enough to ship a 3 prong to 4 prong adapter
for those that want to ensure the fan can get all the current it can take. The
bottom of the heat sink is very smooth and appears to not need lapping. Another
item that I liked was the thermal compound that was already applied to the
bottom of the heat sink. No freaking thermal pad for this bad boy.

Global Win sent
me the spec sheet on the WBK38 and the most notable item is that the fan is only
rated at 6800 RPM +/- 15% and it provides 37.61 CFM of air flow. This is a
change from the FOP38's I've seen that run around 7200 RPM even though Global
Win's web site specs the FOP38 out at 6800rpm +/- 10%. When I monitored the
speed of the fan it varied from 6900 to 7200rpm which is well within the 15%
window that Global Win states. The other difference in specs is the mass of the
WBK38 at 200 grams Vs. the FOP38 at 125 grams. The WBK38 does not seem to be
that much bigger so I think the FOP38 was measured without the fan.
