The Card Cooler XT Review

Installation of The Card Cooler XT is just as easy as the original Card Cooler. Just line up the unit with the screw holes for the AGP card and the second lower PCI slot then screw it on. Plug in the power and you're done.

As you can see from the above photo, The Card Cooler XT is just plain huge! It almost covers up the entire motherboard. The lower fan cools your cards and the upper fan provides additional cooling for your CPU.

And cool it does! With The Card Cooler XT installed, the case temp of the computer dropped a full 10 degrees. The nice thing about all this performance is it doesn't come at the cost of noise. The twin fan remain very quiet during the test. As a matter of fact, the 60mm YS Tech fan on the Alpha cooler was louder.

This is not to say there is no down side to The Card Cooler XT. The first problem is the size. The Card Cooler XT is too big for some smaller cases that position their power supply over the motherboard. You must either remove the top fan or use the original card cooler. Another down side to The Card Cooler XT is that you have to run it with the case cover off to get maximum effect. This is why the unit comes with protective metal grills. However, If you put the case cover back on, the metal grills of The Card Cooler XT hits the case cover on our case. This reduce the cooling effect quite a bit.  Then again, some people would not consider this a down side. With the totally wicked looks of The Card Cooler XT, why would you want to hide it?

Priced at $34, The Card Cooler XT is a great value. It will cost you at least that much or more to do it yourself. And after you have, you may wish you had just order The Card Cooler XT from the very beginning. You can't get much better cooling for all your components  than The Card Cooler XT.
