Thermaltake Chrome Orb Cooler Review
Test Subject #1

OEM AMD Duron 700 heatsink. Not sure, but this sink *IS*
bigger than the OEM sinks I've seen shipped with lower speed-grade boxed Durons.
The sink itself looks adequate, although the fan is a wee bit on the tiny side I
think....
Test Subject #2

Thermaltake Chrome Orb. We of course expect this to beat
the OEM sink, but by how much?
| Cooler Type | Ambient Temp | Peltier Temp |
| OEM AMD heatsink | 75.5F | 38.5F |
| Thermaltake Orb | 75.4F | 27.2F |

Hmm....a nice 11.3F temperature differential there!
Conclusions. How do we feel about this heatsink? About
the same as we felt about the Golden Orb in our
previous review. It is not the highest performing heatsink you can buy, but
it IS incredibly inexpensive and handily outperforms stock OEM heatsinks. With
the new design, safely installing the Orb on an AMD Duron/Athlon CPU has been
made much easier.
Pros:
redesign keeps you from killing your AMD Duron/Athlon....Good
point! ;)
Inexpensive. Only a few buck more than a typical OEM sink.
Best in class performance.
Cons:
Outperformed by many other heatsinks.
