Celery 2 "Little Dipper" Kit

Celery 2 "Little Dipper" Kit

"A Heavenly Body with Real Big Punch!"

Installation:

Another "no-brainer" installation for me...  I'm positive anyone should be able to install this with ease.  Ned takes the time to set the jumpers on the slotket to the proper settings and assembles everything so it's ready to slide right into the awaiting slot (Ewww!  Sounds kinky!).  You don't even have to deal with the thermal compound!  Yay!  Look ma, no mess...   How about this for easy?

  • Slide the assembly between the CPU guides (goal posts) on the motherboard
  • Lock into place
  • Connect the fan power lead
  • Fire it up and set the FSB speed in your bios!

Pretty simple, huh?  I thought so... Okay, it's a decent bargain when you factor in all aspects and it's an easily installed upgrade.  But, does it kick some major benchmarking ass?  We'll soon find out....

Performance:

Does this processor perform as well as Proton Computers guarantees it to?  Or are they pulling the wool over our eyes?   Let's see if I can beat this into submission!   I decided to do some head-to-head benchmarks with the "Little Dipper" and a Slot 1 P3 600e overclocked to 852mhz (142 FSB @ 1.8v) to see if the Celeron 2 has the juice to keep up...  I ran a battery of benchmarks with Sisoft Sandra 2000, CPU Mark 99, and 3D Mark 2000.   I also tested the stability of the "Little Dipper" by running RC5 for two hours immediately after starting my system up for the first time after installing the kit.   Here's the other significant components on my test rig:
