Largan Chameleon Digital Camera Review

The only other product that I'm aware of personally that really competes in this product space are the Creative WebcamGo/Go+ models. The Go+ 's advantages over the regular Go, are more memory, a faster image capture mode, supposedly better battery life, and the ability to do voice annotation. Beyond those, the cameras are similar in features and quality. Comparing them to the Largan Chameleon, I would say unless you might need voice annotation/recording features, the Largan wins the round.

It is seemingly hampered by poor framerate in it's webcam mode, but depending on the application you will use it for, this is not as much of an issue as it might seem, as broadcast bandwidth is often more of a limitation for webcams than the framerate of the camera. However it still seems to be a limitation of the design. The lack of positioning, also is a snag in it's webcam mode.

In it's digital camera guise however, it smokes the Creative products. It's image quality is more than adequate for a 640x480 mode camera, nothing outstanding, but good in this range. Leaps and bounds better than the Creative offerings. Depending on which strengths are more important to you, this camera could be a good compromise for you, compared to getting separate webcams and digital cameras. If your primary needs are for a good 640x480 mode camera for web pictures and email, and you want the added functionality of using it as a webcam, I'd say the Largan is a great option for you!
