The first thing I noticed right off the
bat, is just how much my 13.6GB drive (my personal test bed drive) failed to
deliver. You often never notice how bad things are till you have it staring at
you in black and white. The IBM Deskstar fares well, being the HDD that resides
in my kids Celeron 550, Abit BH6 system normally. It’s um, definitely time to
swap drives with the kids :D. The borrowed DiamondMax 40 series drive slightly
edges the older smaller Deskstar, but not by any significant amount.
Sitting at the head of the table in this
round, is the Quantum, turning in a very respectable 23014 in SandraDisk
benchmark. As I alluded to earlier, paper specs aren’t everything. :)
