KDS VS-195 Monitor Review

Image116.jpg (56335 bytes)

When first taking the VS-195 out of the box, I was impressed at how sleek the monitor looked.  Unlike most monitors that are quite bulky, the VS-195 case fits tightly around its tube.  For all you LAN party people out there, the sleekness of the VS-195 combined with its weight of 55lbs makes it a contender to bring to your parties.  The centralized controls of the VS-195 are simple to use, and navigating through the menu is a breeze.  With menu features that include such things as zoom, rotation, degauss, colour balance and even five languages (English, French, Spanish, Dutch and Italian), the VS-195 would certainly adapt to the visual preference of any user.

The VS-195 not only boasts a vast array of menu selections, but the addition of 5 BNC Connectors and a dot clock of 205mhz also add to it’s overall value.  One nice addition to this monitor is the BNC Connector.  The BNC Connector allows you to add the monitor to another computer; of course you are only able to view one computer at a time, the switch between both connectors is done through the menu of the VS-195.  In addition, the accuracy in the signal from the video adapter to the monitor tends to be increased through a BNC Connector, but unfortunately I wasn’t able to test that at this time.

Image quality on the VS-195 is great.  No matter what resolution you are running, the image and text quality don’t seem to fade, this is achieved by the clock speed reaching up to 205mhz.  Dot pitch is another ruling factor of image quality, the lower the number the tighter images appear.  With a dot pitch of 0.26, any graphics artist would appreciate the images produced by the VS-195.

With the ever-decreasing cost of monitors today, what is thought of as a monster monitor can easily be purchased.   With a price tag of only $ 349 US, the VS-195 can easily be but on the future shopping lists of any computer buyer.  The image quality is great and the features are all packed into one sleek looking package.

What’s Hot:

  • Image quality is great
  • 18” diagonal view
  • Sleek looking
  • Small footprint

What’s Not:

  • Nothing significant

Rating 8.5/10
