CPD-G500 made by: Sony

I tell ya, once you sit in front of the Sony Multiscan CPD-G500 monitor for a few hours, there is no going back to lesser monitors. The Multiscan G500 defines how a high end monitor should be made. Make no mistakes about it, the Sony G500 is one of the best if not the best monitor you can buy. And it has a price tag to match. This monitor is not cheap. You can get whole systems with monitor for the cost of the G500.

The CPG-G500's 21" (19.8" viewable) display is ideal for the demanding professional who requires extra screen space and exceptional image quality. While the CPD-G500’s spacious screen is good for everything from spreadsheets to finely detailed graphic presentations, I found it's best feature is allowing me to run UT and Q3A at super high resolutions. The virtually flat, high-resolution FD Trinitron CRT, with a 0.24 mm aperture grille pitch, delivers superior image clarity that are consistent from corner to corner.

To provide superior contrast and grayscale performance, the CPD-G500 screen features a high-contrast black coating. This coating, coupled with the display’s vertically flat screen, also helps cut glare and washout caused by ambient light. This will help reduces the eyestrain during those night long LAN sessions.

The monitor is controlled by Sony’s DisplayMouse menu. It's like a little joystick that makes it very easy to set up, adjust and troubleshoot the monitor. With the DisplayMouse, you can take advantage of everything the CPD-G500 has to offer.

While 21 inches is only 4 inches bigger than a 17" monitor, it sure doesn't look like a 3" difference when you put a 17 and 21 side by side. The big Sony made our 17" monitors look like 14 inchers. All of which brings up the question "does anyone need a monitor this big or this expensive?". Let's find out.
