Abit BX133-RAID Motherboard Review

BX133-RAID

"This RAID isn't for cockroaches..."

Installation:

This motherboard was very easy to install.  No major hiccups at all.  My biggest fear was setting up the RAID array.  I'll be honest... I have always been intimidated by RAID.

Oops... Wrong "RAID"!   Anyway, when I've read anything regarding RAID in the past it has always sounded so complicated and I really thought I was in for a chore.  Not so... The setup menu for the Highpoint controller is very simple to follow.  I'd have to say that it's nearly foolproof.  Here's a screenshot of the setup menu:

From start to finish it took me nearly three hours get this up and running... The RAID array took me less than 45 minutes to setup, including formatting.  Much less time than I anticipated.  Since I'm more concerned with performance rather than data security... I chose to setup RAID 0 Striping to get the biggest bang for the buck.  Now, how does it perform?
