The Abit KT7-RAID is by far the best Socket A motherboard on the market
today. There are no features missing. Everything that one can want in an
overclocker's motherboard is here. The motherboard is super stable, able to run
my AMD T Bird 750 at up to 1050Mhz. The performance is top notch and having the
RAID controller is the icing on the cake.
The layout of the motherboard is near perfect. The only improvement I can
think of would be to lower the CPU socket a bit so one can put their fingers
between the power supply and heatsink to remove it. As it stands now, I need to
remove my power supply to remove my cooler. This should not be a problem for
most people but I change coolers like people change underwear.
The Abit BIOS is one of the best in the business. From here you can pretty
much adjust every feature the motherboard has to offer, including that super
Soft Menu III. This has to be the most tweakable motherboard out there. Unlike
the
Asus A7V you can adjust multiplier settings with the Soft Menu. No need to
open the case and fool around with jumpers.
Anyone considering the KT7 should get the KT7-RAID. It's not that much more
and the performance or security benefit of RAIDing two or more drives more than
offsets the cost. Beside, name one place where you can buy a RAID card for $20?
A separate RAID card also takes up a PCI slot. Then again, with six PCI slots on
board, you won't have to worry about running out anytime soon.
With a list price of $175 and street price of around $145, the Abit KT7-RAID
is not only the best Socket A motherboard you can buy but it's also one of the
best motherboard value out there. Name another Socket A motherboard with all
these features and sells at the same price. You won't find any. A big congrats
to Abit for a fantastic job of making the best T Bird and Duron motherboard out
there. If you have a Socket A AMD CPU and you're looking for the best
motherboard to go with it, then you've found it in the Abit KT7-RAID.
