Conclusion
The Abit BE6-II is a super improvement to the BE6. It
offers great performance for a price that won't break your bank account. It will
fit any ATX case. The only downside being that a big cooler like the Global Win
FEP32 that I used will be blocking off some of its DIMM slots. If you can live
with that (or move the fan of the FEP32 on the side of the heatsink. This will
give you back all the DIMMs), I can highly recommend this motherboard.
This motherboard comes with all the features one can ask
for. Soft Menu III, ATA/66 support, 5 PCI slots, support for up to 768 Megs of
RAM assuming your cooler doesn't block off any DIMM slots.
With a street price of $135, the Abit BE6-II is a really
good value. When you think about it, this is a really great price. Just the cost
of an ATA/66 controller will set you back $50 if you were to buy one. The Abit
BE6-II supports ATA/66 for free. Combine this with the CPU Soft Menu III, a nice
CPU temp probe and you have a motherboard that stands among the best 440BX
boards currently available.
The Abit BE6-II is one of the most stable motherboard I
have ever came across. No other motherboard has been able to run my Celeron 366
at 610Mhz and unless other manufacturers start doing 1Mhz stepping motherboard I
doubt any other motherboard will be able to run the C366 as high as the Abit
BE6-II. Kudos to Abit for a fantastic update of an already great motherboard.
The Abit BE6-II is my number 1 choice if you're in the market for a new board.
