My first problem with testing the CUV4X was I
lack a FC-PGA CPU to try it on, until Lowlight over at
HardcoreWare came to the
rescue. He put his Flip Chip 550E in to see how far it would overclock.
However, it turns out the quality of this Flip Chip is not as good as my two
Slot 1 550E. The highest we could overclock the FC 550E was 770Mhz using the
140Mhz bus. Still at 770Mhz, the little Flip Chip performed very well.

The motherboard proved super stable. I have no
doubt it's every bit as stable as the Asus P3V4X which Zero is using to run his
Slot 1 600 at 1Gig using the 166Mhz bus.

The memory benchmarks shows the one weakness
of the Apollo chipset. It's just not that fast compared to a BX chipset
motherboard. You can help by tweaking the BIOS and running your RAM at very
high bus speeds however.

Hard drive performance is very good. Just make
sure you install the Via 4 in 1 drivers or you won't even come close to this
performance level. Another thing to keep in mind is to separate drives if they
are different speeds. If you put both drives on the same IDE channel, then it
will default to the speed of the slower drive.
