Logitech Cordless
Mouseman Vs Microsoft Intellimouse Explorer
Setup
The Installation of the both mice were
effortless and mindless to say the least. They
both required the installation of drivers and programs from their packaged CDs.
The USB version of the Intellimouse was
automatically detected after its initial start up. The
installation of the drivers and programs came with ease.
By entering the Control Panel, configuration of the mouse was done with
ease.
The PS/2 version of the Cordless Mouseman
Wheel was also automatically detected after its initial boot up. After its drivers and
programs were installed, the configuration of the mouse was accomplished as well.
I feel that the Intellimouse mouse offered
a superior set up experience for me because I actually got to use my USB hub for the 3rd
time. Okay, Okay
that is biased.
Comfort
Comfort is an important category for many
users because many hours are spent in front of the computer accomplishing daily tasks such
as work, or games! Many gaming enthusiasts
may even lose their edge if an uncomfortable mouse begins to affect their control.
This is where the Logitech mouse stands
out. The ergonomic design of the Cordless
Mouse assumes a natural hand palm position. Placement
of my hand upon the mouse felt so natural. The
Buttons were easy to use and movement along the pad felt effortless as well. Logitech has proven they re the masters of
the game when it comes to comfort.
The Intellimouse felt like a wild beast
during my first use. The mouse felt fat and a
little awkward. The side-buttons needed some
time to become familiar with. But after an
hour of playing around with the Intellimouse, the mouse began to feel very comfortable and
almost second nature to me. Eventually all of
the buttons became easy to use as well and operating within a Windows Environment became
no problem at all. The Movement along the
surface of my desk was smooth and without any notable signs of friction.
The Logitech Cordless Mouseman
Wheel is definitely the more comfortable of the two.
Logitech has produced comfort on a mouse that mirrors a comfortable leather sofa. The ease of use and ergonomic positioning of this
peripheral is a delight to use, it makes me wonder this product only existed until now. Dont take me wrong, The Intellimouse is also
a very usable mouse, but it doesnt feel as comfortable in comparison to the Logitech
mouse.
General Windows Application
When it came to general Windows
applications both of the mice operated remarkably well.
I didnt find any differences with either mouse while using Internet
Explorer or Microsoft Word. The
five-button capability of the Intellimouse will come in handy for people who try to
maximize the use of their peripherals. I also liked the fact that monotonous surfing
functions like forward or back was done with just a touch of a button. But at the same time the cordless freedom that
came with the Logitech product enabled me to control my computer from the most
convenient of places. When it came to accuracy, all my actions performed on a desktop
environment were equally responsive and smooth. I
never over-scrolled a document or misplaced a file in Windows Explorer. I really cant recommend either mouse
over the other in a general Windows environment, but if I ever had to do a business
presentation that required a mouse, the Cordless Mouseman Wheel would be my first option
of choice because of its wireless capability. Other
than that either choice of mouse would make any general user happy.
