Logitech Cordless Mouseman Vs Microsoft Intellimouse Explorer

Gaming Performance

Gamers are always looking for that edge that will keep them ahead of the pack and this attitude certainly carries over to the mouse.  Hardcore Gaming enthusiasts will always buy the fastest processors, video cards, etc....blah, blah.    All of this hard earned cash spent towards a powerful system would never be exploited if a meager mouse was used to control it all.  Just imagine driving a Formula-1 Race car with a steering wheel made for a bus!  Gamers don’t want to use their spicy new mouse take to pictures of POKEMAN or BARBIE.   They want a stress-free mouse that will that will take them to the top of the podium.   I used 3D shooters “Unreal Tournament” and “Quake3 Arena” as grounds for my testing.

The Logitech Cordless Wheelman Mouse proved to be a reliable mouse suitable for gaming.  While playing Quake3 Arena and Unreal Tournament, my movements were fluid and consistent.  I was able to perform my rocket jumps with ease and switching to my weapons came about with no problems at all.  Even though this is only a four-button mouse, it proved to be good enough for players who like to assign weapons with a simple touch of a button.   As far as aiming goes, the cordless mouse is proven to be accurate.   I was able to score consistent kills with the rail gun while playing Quake3 online and directing my projectiles during a 15-man death match was performed at ease.  Unreal Tournament also provided reliable control with easy weapon changes.  I do warn you though, this is a ball mouse, and once the interior gets dirty, control will be affected and so will your game play.  There is also another flaw with the Cordless mouse that is hard to deny, a single triple “A” battery powers it!  This requirement is pretty annoying due to the fact that movement can be loss due to the batteries running out.  Losing battery power to you mouse may equate to possible losses or instant death during those important matches.   This is a good gaming mouse, but it felt no different as compared to other Logitech products used before.  Given the flaws, this is a reliable toy for gaming, but is it the ultimate gamers mouse?

Playing around with the Intellimouse provided me with very accurate and reliable control in a 3D shooting environment.  While I was immersed in the beautiful 3D world, it seems that the Intellimouse became an extension of my thoughts and actions.   My Rocket Jumps were smoother and easier to control, plus my target placement on the screen provided positive feedback and accuracy that I’ve never experienced with any mouse used before.   The five available buttons goes a long way when it comes to binding weapons, so reaching for your appropriate weapon during a middle of a firefight should be no problem at all.  The same fluid control in Quake3 was also found while playing Unreal Tournament.   My online experience with the Intellimouse improved my scores and decreased my deaths as well.  Using the sniper rifle in Unreal Tournament became a dream come true.  This is the mouse for all you campers out there who like to sit back and shoot people from their favorite hiding spot.  Combined with the right skill, you’ll get head shots with no problem at all.  With a reliable continuity of control, I can’t imagine any hardcore gamer without this red glowing mouse.  Any gamer regardless of skill can improve their playing experience with the Intellimouse.

The Microsoft Intellimouse Explorer comes out on top when it comes to gaming.  Don’t take me wrong, the Logitech mouse is a fast mouse mouse, but there are certain issues that prevent it from being the best gamers mouse on the market.   The accuracy and performance found on the Intellimouse is what gamers need to look for in order to stay competitive.  It’s all about survival, and the IntelliMouse has more to offer to help you stay alive.

Conclusion

Selecting either mouse would be good choice, but it really depends on what you want to use it for.   If you’re the type of user who stays on the computer for extended periods of time, the “Logitech Cordless Mouseman Wheel” would definitely be the best choice for you.   It provides the best combination of comfort, performance, and reliability that a mouse has to offer.  Hardcore gaming junkies would best fit the bill with the “Intellimouse Explorer”.   Combined with needlepoint accuracy, plenty of buttons and drop-dead looks, this mouse is built for gamers.  The prices on these mice are more expensive in comparison to other competing products, but their performance and features are definitely worth it.  If you’ re in the market for a new mouse, don’t be hesitant to try out these two choices because you’re certainly guaranteed a quality product from Logitech, and Microsoft.
