The playback controls should be mostly familiar to
anyone who's got a portable CD player. The button functions from left to right
are DOOR OPEN, DIR/REC (to choose Directory playback mode, or RECORDING mode)
PLAY/MODE (for choosing various playback modes, such as
ALL/DIR/RANDOM/PROGRAM/DIR PROGRAM) REP/ENTER (to repeat play a song, or as the
ENTER button during programming) SKIP BACKWARD, SKIP FORWARD, STOP, PLAY/PAUSE.
Below and on the front is a SOUND button that toggles through 5 pre-programmed
EQ settings.
The LCD display is rather basic, showing the playback
mode (MP3 or CD), track playing, playback type (ALL, INTRO, RANDOM, DIR, DIR
PROG, PROG), battery charge status, and track/time information. You wont find
any display of song titles, and there is no support for the ubiquitous ID3 song
title tag.
The left side simply shows the plug-in for
the AC Power brick/charger.
On the right side, you'll find the volume control, input
jacks for the headphones, and microphone (for recording mode) and a switch to
select either playback or recording mode.
In the rear is where you'll find the unit's line-out
jack. Used with the mini-stereo to RCA patch cord included with the unit, you
can connect the player to your home stereo, or any other source that will accept
RCA stereo inputs.
