Gateway Solo 3350 Notebook Review
The Gateway Solo 3350 performed the SiSoft CPU benchmark just as well as a desktop computer. The score was dead on to a P3-600 as a matter of fact. The same goes for the Multi-Media benchmark. There was really nothing special happening. Just solid 600Mhz performance. Where it really stood out was in hard drive performance.
While the score of 11,342 is not bad by desktop standard, it's really good for a notebook! By comparison, the Acer 341TV only scored 5,737.
Gateway ships its Solo 3350 with a separate 6X DVD player. Performance wise, it runs more like a 3X unit. This really isn't a problem when viewing DVDs however. Just don't expect it to install the 810 Megs MS Streets & Trips 2001 faster than your desktop computer.
With the exception of the DVD benchmark, overall performance of the Gateway Solo 3350 was very good. Who would have thought you could pack this much power into a 3.65 pound package?
