Hard Drive Cooler Roundup
Test setup
The hard drive used to test these coolers was the new 18 Gig Quantum KA ATA/66 drive that we recently reviewed. This drive spins at a fast 7,200 RPM and can get pretty hot.
Temp probes were attached to the top and bottom of the drive. The readings were sent to the Super Cooler E2C system monitor.

Super Cooler E2C
The test consisted of running the hard drive benchmark in SiSoft SANDRA 2 times. The highest temp reading was recorded.
The Results
| Hard Drive Cooler | Top temp | Bottom temp |
| No cooler (base) | 34.0 | 32.9 |
| Just Cooler CO-HD35 | 32.1 | 32.4 |
| Just Cooler HD200 | 31.5 | 28.1 |
| Super Cooler E2C | 29.2 | 32.7 |
| AMK HD-3 | 28.8 | 26.3 |
| King Kong | 28.6 | 27.6 |
The best performing hard drive coolers were the AMK HD-3 and the Global Win King Kong cooler. The King Kong had the lowest temp reading on top of the Quantum while the AMK HD-3 had the lowest reading on the bottom of the Quantum. To rank these coolers overall, I looked at cooling performance, price and features.
