Hard Drive Cooler Roundup
3rd Place: Global Win King Kong

The King Kong cooler from Global Win was one of the highest performing coolers in this roundup. So why did it only finish 3rd? The main reason is that it had no cover to protect the fans. They are all exposed. While some people like this look, those with children around the house may like to keep their child's fingers. We did run the test with a 5.25" bay plate covering the fans. This dropped the performance so much it became the worst cooler tested! Blocking off the fans is not a good idea.
The King Kong was also the 2nd most expensive cooler. At $27, it's a little on the high side. The unit was the easiest to install however. Unlike the other cooler, the King Kong doesn't use rails to mount the hard drive. You just mount the hard drive to the King Kong, then slide the whole thing into a hard drive bay and screw it down. Had the King Kong came with a fan cover, it would had been ranked higher.
2nd Place: Super Cooler E2C

We were really surprised by the performance of the Super Cooler E2C. With just 2 fans, this unit was able to match or exceed the performance of the 3 fan Just Cooler HD200. The top temp reading from the E2C was only .6C higher than the top performing King Kong.
The Super Cooler E2C is the most expensive cooler in this roundup but you do get a lot more features. Besides the fans with filters, the unit comes with a system monitor to measure the temp of up 8 devices! The system monitor can also be set to turn on your fans or sound an alarm when the temp exceed a preset number. The display is Backlit and comes with a clock. The Super Cooler E2c was voted the best looking cooler in this roundup.
If you don't mind the price, the Super Cooler E2C is well worth considering. Those extra features really came in handy.
