The Holiday Heatsink Roundup

Alpha FCPAL-28

I've had this one for a while, and it's served me well. The embedded copper heat transfer plate, and standoff feet made this an ideal little heatsink for my 1Ghz box (P3-700 @ 1001). The spring retention clips that Alpha uses are the best design I have seen so far, and they are easy to install and remove because of this. Equipped with a 28cfm Sunon fan, it's done well, and is one of the easiest to fit of the hardcore heatsinks. Now, a look at JMC's offering.

JMC's ArticWind+

JMC's a company you may not know off the top of your head, but if you've heard of or seen the folded-fin RJDJ heatsinks, then you know who they are. JMC is their parent company. JMC makes two versions of this heatsink, with the "Plus" version having the imbedded copper heat transfer plate. Equipped with an un-rated 4000RPM fan, and a standard type spring clip, it looks pretty unassuming. An interesting oddity, is the 3-pin fan header. It's a non-standard connector that it problematic plugging into mainboard headers. Although I havent found pricing data on it, I would imagine it is quite inexpensive. It came equipped with a Berquist type pad, but that was removed easily enough with the trusty hairdryer. :) Now, on to the newcomer, Overclock Warehouses' Ofrio...Ofrio??
