S4 MidiLand 8200 Speaker Review

Installation of the S4 MidiLand 8200 takes a lot more time than most speaker setups. There are just a lot more speakers to account for. You should label each speaker wire to make it easy to connect to the sub enclosure. All wires and connectors are included with the system. MidiLand was smart enough to include extra long speaker wires for the rear speakers. Total install time from unpacking to full setup was about 30 minutes

Proper setup of the S4 MidiLand 8200 is required to get the full effect of the surround sound.  The satellite speakers doesn't come with stands so there was no way  to angle them up to ear level, so they were placed on top of the reference Roland speakers. A set of angle brackets would have been a nice addition. The center channel speaker was placed flat on top of the monitor. The rear surround  speakers were placed on the desk behind the computer. The sub woofer was placed under the desk. The soundcard used to test the S4 MidiLand 8200 was the Vortex 2 SQ2500 from Aureal.

With the system all setup I fired up a game of Rainbow Six Covert Operations and let it rip. The S4 MidiLand 8200 added a new dimension to the game that I've been playing for the last few weeks. I had my leg in front of the sub when machine fire broke out. The sound effects were so life like, I nearly jump out of my seat. The sub moves enough air that when I finally got shot, I could hear and feel the bullet that killed me. It doesn't get more realistic than this! Every game became a new experience. This kind of sound effects is addictive. I found myself loading every game I had which support 3D so I can get more.
