Overclock Warehouse Dual CPU Bundle
Overclock Warehouse Dual CPU Bundle Review

What's included in the bundle?

  • MSI 694D-Pro-A Dual Socket370 mainboard w/Promise ATA100 controller

  • Two Intel PentiumIII 700 FCPGA CPU's.  CB0 Stepping

  • Two Alpha PAL6035 heatsinks with 60mm Delta fans

Let's take a look at the pieces individually, as we did in the last Gen-X-Tech system review, and then see how it all came together....First off, let's see what the MSI 694D-Pro-A Socket370 mainboard brings to the table.

MSI 694D-Pro-A Dual Socket370 mainboard

Feature wise, for a dual CPU board, this one is very overclock friendly. It contains multiplier (?? for CyrixS370??) adjustment as well as several levels of FSB adjustment. There is a LARGE gap in clockrates between 114mhz and 133 however, and unlike many single CPU boards, there are no singular 1mhz steps involved. The board also includes individual core voltage settings for each CPU, an uncommon touch on dual boards. However, the MSI boards voltages are somewhat freaky. The 2nd CPU will always read lower in voltage than the first CPU, so getting matched core voltages can be tricky.

By using the BIOS, I added .2v to CPU1 in this rig, and .3v to CPU2 in order to attain 1.91v and 1.94v respectively, which was the voltage setting necessary to achieve a stable 1001mhz. Another anomaly that occurs, is that the 2nd CPU can periodically fail to post on a warm reboot. Cold reboot does not have this problem. MSI is aware of the issue, and is working on a BIOS fix that should alleviate this little annoyance.
