Asus V3800 Ultra Deluxe Review

Mvc-193f.jpg (59488 bytes)

To overclock the Asus V3800, I went a little overboard. OK! I went a lot overboard! :-) Go here to find out how I put this overclock monster together.

The Asus V3800 is a great card to overclock. The stock heatsink comes off very easily and having all the RAM chips on one side of the card makes them easier to cool. With the cooling system I made for the V3800 I was able to overclock the card to a blistering 195Mhz core and 245Mhz memory! Benchmarks, with the P3 at 620Mhz, was off the chart. Check it out.

Overclock Benchmarks on P3-620

Benchmark Type V3800 Viper Ultra
Quake 2 Demo1 800x600 132.5 125.9
Quake 2 Demo1 1024x768 90.5 85.2
Quake 2 Demo1 1600x1200 38.3 35.5
Quake 2 Crusher 800x600 84.2 80.9
Quake 2 Crusher 1024x768 76.9 72.8
Quake 3 Demo 1 62.9 59.5
Quake 3 Demo 2 66.5 63.5
Unreal Timedemo 800x600 61.5 60.5
Unreal Timedemo 1024x768 52.5 51.9
Unreal Timedemo 1600x1200 29.5 27.2
3D Mark 99 Max 800x600 6350 6297

When overclocked, the Asus V3800 became the fastest TNT2 card The Tech Zone has ever tested. You won't get many complaints about your games not running fast enough with this card!
