Asus V3800 Ultra Deluxe Review

There's a lot to like about the Asus V3800. This card has everything. Speed, great visuals, TV out, VR Glasses, you name it. Add in the optional TV tuner and you got yourself a card that will make the Voodoo 3 3500TV sweat like a pig.

So, should you get this card? I would say hold and see how well the new GeForce 256 does. To buy this card now would be fool hardy considering the price is quite high. I have no doubt the GeFroce will out perform the V3800 even when overclocked 195/245.

The Asus V3800 is a great video card. The fastest The Tech Zone has ever tested thanks to that crazy cooler I made for it. If you want to do something like that, prepare to put up some big bucks. This is one of the most expensive TNT2 cards on the markets. However considering the amount of features it has, it's not so bad. Then again, you can get a Guillemot Maxi Gamer Xentor 32 Ultra for less money and the only thing it's missing is S-Video. If you don't need that feature you can save yourself quite a bit but going with Guillemot.

The Asus V3800 has taken over the Viper Ultra as TNT2 card of choice for project 620. At 195/245 there are few video cards that can keep up with it. The question you may have is how far this card can overclock WITHOUT that big cooler. The answer is 175/200, which is really good. That's the same speed as the now dead Hercules TNT2 Ultra.

Overall, I really like this card. Asus has done a great job on it. It's really fast (esp. when overclocked), the visual quality is right up there with the best and the price should go down a lot once GeForce 256 cards start shipping.
