ATI Display settings
set at defaults for D3D and OpenGL. Using Win9x/ME 7062
drivers.
Three video cards
tested:
The first round of tests
were in 3Dmark 2000 v1.1 at the default settings (1024x768 16bit)

It’s clear here, that 16
bit rendering isn’t kind to the Radeon.. But we knew that at the
outset. Still, the Geforce2MX edges it out in final 3Dmark score,
although by a practically insignificant amount.
Next up, in order to
compare to the tests done on the other two video cards, we use
Quake3Arena v1.25y beta, and the included Demo000.
Here, you can see that at
FAST and NORMAL settings, the Geforce and Geforce2MX both beat the
Radeon. At these low resolutions this is indicative of slightly
poorer driver optimization. As the resolution climbs, the now
aging Geforce DDR begins to tank, while the other two cards are
still performing flat. Once you hit 1024x768 however, the Radeon
begins to edge just ahead of the Geforce2MX. In anecdotal testing
as resolutions beyond 1024x768, the lead widens a good bit more
for the Radeon.
For the testing, I would
have liked to have had a Geforce2 GTS in house, but it just
wasn’t possible within my testing timeframe. The Radeon I
imagine would have faired poorly against one, based on checking
out other reviews of the Radeon against the Geforce2GTS cards.
