Chaintech is mostly known as a motherboard company. Now
they have a couple of rather sweet nVidia based offerings. Today's torture
subject is the Chaintech Desperado RIA2 AGP video card, a nVidia Geforce2MX
based card. I was quite surprised with its overclocked performance, especially
for such a basic card. A big thanks to Ron Carlson at Chaintech, for providing
us with an evaluation unit.
Much has been reported in the online hardware press
about the nVidia Geforce2MX, and it's pretty-much undisputed position as the
best value oriented chipset on the market right now. We've already taken a look
at one here at The Tech Zone, a fine board by MSI (the MSI Starforce 816), so I
don't really want to beat a dead horse here. The MSI board we evaluated did have
TV-Out, while the sample I received from Chaintech did not, although they do
have a TV-Out offering, so the overall feature-set of both boards is similar.

Today's article focus will be more towards one area that
I didn't have time to do any real hardcore testing of, during the MSI Starforce
review, that being overclocking. But first, let's take a look at the
specifications, just for review, and see what you get "in the box".
