Creative Annihilator 2 Ultra Review

Creative Annihilator 2 Ultra Review

The Creative Ultra is one good looking video card. Not only is the PCB done in green, but so is the chipset cooler and RAM sinks. As you can see, you don't get that many options for your $500. Just an output to your monitor. No TV or video out. This card is about pure performance and not much else.

The Creative Ultra keeps its cool with the help of a heatsink fan and RAM sinks on the DDR RAM. The RAM sinks looks really good and does a really good job keeping the RAM going at 458Mhz. The cooler on the GeForce chipset is spring loaded and quite good for a factory cooler. It proves stable enough for me to overclock the core by 25Mhz over stock.

The back of the Creative is pretty plain. No DDR RAM or fancy heatsinks here. All the good stuff is on the other side. To keep cost down, the Annihilator 2 Ultra is based on a reference nVidia design. I wonder how much the card would cost if it wasn't based on a reference layout?
