Ultra is right. The Creative Annihilator 2 Ultra is
Ultra fast. It's also Ultra expensive. Is it worth it? That really depends on
the type of monitor you have. The Ultra is not design to run your games at
1024x768. Leave that to the GeForce 256 and MX. No, the Ultra is made for
1600x1200x32 bit gaming and here lays the problem. Most people don't have
monitor that can do that. So unless you have a 19" or 21" monitor, you may be
better off sticking with a lesser GeForce.
The Creative Ultra is one nice looking video card. Those
RAM sinks just look way cool on those DDR RAM. This is a high end card meant for
high end systems. Don't expect the Ultra to be much faster than an overclocked
GeForce 256 if you put it into anything slower than a Pentium 3 500. Even my P3
at 1000Mhz had trouble keeping up!
The visual quality is the same as any other GeForce
video card, which is to say very good. Quake 3 has never looked better. With the
Creative Ultra, I'm able to run the game at 1600x1200x32 bit color with
everything "max" out and still play at over 60 frames per second. This is
something I couldn't do with my old GeForce GTS card.
The GeForce Ultra already runs at a very high speed, but
you can still overclock it another 10% if you really want to. The card also
handles very high AGP bus speed. My BX133-RAID runs at 143Mhz Front Side Bus.
That works out to a 96Mhz AGP bus and the video card had no problems. As a
matter of fact, I was able to run the card with the AGP bus set to 100Mhz. So
don't worry if you have an overclocked BX chipset motherboard, and worry about
whether the Ultra will work with it.
If you got the money and the high end system to handle
it, then I can highly recommend the Annihilator 2 Ultra from Creative. It
doesn't get any faster than this.
