The Hercules 3D Prophet II GTS 64 Meg is the first 64 Meg GeForce2 GTS card to be shipped by any manufacturer. Hercules was able to get it out the door two weeks ahead of the stated release date. The card itself shares the same box as the 32 Meg version. The only difference being one box says 64 Meg and the other says 32 Meg.

Unlike the 32 Meg 3D Prophet, the 64 Meg card follows the reference layout. The card  is the same size as any other GeForce2 GTS video cards. The 3D Prophet II is made on a nice cool blue PCB with matching blue  heat sink and blue RAM sinks.

Without a  doubt, the 64 Meg 3D Prophet II is the best looking GeForce2 card out there. Unlike the 32 Meg Prophet II, all 64 Megs of DDR RAM are on one side of the card. The RAM sinks used for the 32 Meg Prophet reviewed recently were very poorly attached and ended up trapping heat instead of getting rid of it. I was wondering if the 64 Meg unit would do the same thing.

Another feature that the 64 Meg Prophet II has that the 32 Meg unit doesn't have is DVI output. What is DVI? DVI stands for Digital Visual Interface. It's the new standard for digital display supported by all major monitor makers. The standard promises high-quality digital output and incredible sharpness. There is the traditional TV and monitor outputs for those without digital displays.

You don't get much software for your $449 investment. Just a full copy of Power DVD and a bunch of game demos. What you do get is a very fast video card. The question is, do those new RAM sinks help or hinder the overclocking?
