As you can see the scores were quite a bit
better than the 32 Meg Prophet. While I expected the 64 Meg card to beat the 32
card I didn't expect it would do it by this much! The 32 Meg GeForce was in an
Athlon 850 system and the 64 Meg card was in the LAN 825 system.
Firing up Powerstrip for the overclocking
test revealed where the extra speed of the 64 Meg Prophet came from. While the
box on the Prophet says the card runs at 200Mhz core and 333Mhz memory, it was
in fact running at 220Mhz core and 360Mhz memory! Hercules shipped this card
overclocked!
Seeing how my last 32 Meg 3D Prophet wouldn't
run at anything above 219Mhz core and 360Mhz memory, this is really an amazing
achievement on Hercules' part. It looks like they fixed whatever problems they
had with those RAM sinks and the heatsink/fan.
I have called Hercules about the higher than
stock core and memory speed and the only thing they will say is; "While the box
says 200Mhz core and 333Mhz memory, the 64 Meg cards are in fact running stock
at 220Mhz core and 360Mhz memory. " This would seem to mean Hercules is putting
in high grade GTS chips and memory for their 64 Meg Prophet and giving the
lesser grade stuff to the 32 Meg unit. I somewhat confirmed this by overclocking
the 64 Meg card to a mind-blowing 250Mhz core and
400Mhz memory!

At lower resolutions, there is nearly no slow
down when running at 32 bit. However, start cranking up the resolution and
prepare to see quite a drop in frame rate. However, the drop is not as great as
the 32 Meg GeForce. Still, you can't complain about 40 plus frames per second
at 1600x1200x32 bit. Well, maybe you can. :)
