SNiper2 TNT2 M64 Review
Conclusion & Rating
The Power Color SNiper2 TNT2 M64 offers very fast
performance and excellent visual quality at a really cheap price. It's highly
overclockable and can run just as fast as a normal TNT2 in most games. The only problem
being the one game it sucks at is Quake 3! To me this is simply not acceptable since Quake
3 is the Tech Zone's LAN party game.
To make the card work well with Quake 3 I had to back
the settings down to a level I'm really not use to. When you get use to gaming on a 620Mhz
P3 with Viper Ultra running at 185/243, playing Quake 3 at 640x480 is really not that much
fun. Needless to say I lost a few rounds during the last LAN party with the SNiper. Hmmm,
you really can't do much sniping with this card at Quake 3 considering the resolution
you'll have to run to get good speed. :-)
So, should you get this card? That depends. If you love
playing Quake 3 as much as I do then this card is a no go. Even a normal TNT can beat it.
I don't know why it's so slow on this one game. It must be the 64bit memory bus. It's runs
great on everything else.
If you don't care much for Quake 3, then I can highly
recommend this card for you. For $100 it's a steal! And when overclocked, it really comes
into its own. Just don't use this card against me thinking you're going to win if you come
to our LAN parties. :-)
